ExMTB.co.uk >> Orange Route

This route takes you from Four Firs Car Park, down to the water tunnels, up out of the valley down into down the Bearden Barn Area and then gradually back up to Four Firs via the edge of the Thorn Tree Plantation.

NB - The section of the route which drops down to the water tunnels is steep, narrow and rocky and not recommended for beginners. The descent from the road down to the stream by Bearden Barn is also very steep and rocky

Mouse over waypoints for more information.

Water Tunnels Route Just as the path splits here, head down to your left, down what feels like a staircase! Go up the other side, then down again. Cross the stream at the and head up hill again until the paths splits. Dive down the chute to your right and you will spill out at the bottom next to the water tunnels. Head back up to your left, over the concrete slab and up to your left towards the road. Watch out for the (what can be very deep) puddle at the bottom of the dip. When the paths splits by the road, turn right and head downhill. Take the right-hand fork here and head down along single track through high-sided foliage. Go past the first descent to your right and carry on to the second. Take this (steep and rocky) hill down to the stream, cross over and head straight on until the path forks. Half way up the hill, turn right and take the path which heads up towards Tucker's Plants via the bottom of the gully. Turn right at Tucker's and head along the bottom of this gully (over roots) until the path splits, where you take the left fork which should bring you up a narrow track to a tunnel. Head past the tunnel, past the trees on your immediate right and then follow the path round to the right and down a 'bricky' path. Get some speed towards the bottom, then head up the short slope and turn left onto the main path. Stay on this path, up and down a couple of hills, and you should find yourself back at Four Firs before too long.
