ExMTB.co.uk >> Pink Route

This route takes you from the car park just to the right of the 'Bicton Common' label, along beside Uphams Plantation and then up to the top of Crook Plantation, then down through the woods and back up the hill.

NB - The stretches down through the wood (there are 2 to choose from) are pretty steep and not proper 'paths' (although they are used by some dog walkers). The one on the right can have branches etc... across the path/at head height after windy weather and also gets very rutted after heavy rain.

Mouse over waypoints for more information.

Route Details

1. Head straight out from the car park along the path towards the plantation on the right-hand side.

2. Take the first path into the plantation on the right-hand side, go down to the end and then turn left. Follow the path along, and down and up through a rocky dip, then pop back out onto the path which skirts the outside of the plantation.

3. When you pop out onto this main path, turn right and follow it all the way down the hill and round the corner. Go under the trees, through the puddles and up the first hill, then through the sand and up the second (shorter) hill.

4. About 30 yards after the brow of the second hill there is a path cutting back into the woods on your right. Head along it for about 20 yards...

5. Here you have 2 choices:

a) Head off to your right before you get to the gateway. You will see a hidden path heading (steeply) down through the undergrowth (described at the top of the page). Follow this down and then turn left at the bottom (or, if you want to try the other path as well, turn right, climb this hill, turn right again and pick up half-way through waypoint 3). Follow this path along. This is where option 'b' links up.

b) Go through the gateway and follow the track round to the right for about 20 yards. You should see a path heading over 2 banks and into the trees. Take this path and head downhill (watching out for the stumps in the middle). Follow the path round the corner, go over the first junction and then turn left when you get to the bottom. This is where option 'a' links up.

When you get to the green barrier at the end, turn right and this will take you out to the road.

6. Here you have another choice:

a) Cycle straight back up the road (steep) to the car park

b) Take the track up the side of the woods. Head all the way up to the top, out into the open, and then on up the hill. Turn left when you reach the T-junction and back along the path towards the car park.

If you are up for more and are a more experienced rider, join the Orange Route by crossing the road and picking up at waypoint 3.
